ecorded as Landholder at 'Dohertystown, Aughterlin' in the Tithe Composition Applotment Records (1833).
He had brothers; Charles(big Charlie) & Cornelius (Knogher)1800-1877 and a sister who married a farmer named Aiken, Drumherrive, Ramelton. (still being researched).
Hugh died, 29th November 1871, aged 75 years and was succeeded by his son Charles(1844-1938).

Charles Doherty (big Charlie) Married (1848) Sheila Sheridan, Upper Craig, Rathmullan.
They married at the height of the
Famine and built their own dwelling house nearby.

He received a one third share of the farm, probably at the time of his marriage, and the land was divided according to the
Rundale system of land tenure.

Married in England and had two daughters and possibly one son.
Mary Ethel Doherty (1893 - 1968) Wendover, Buckinghamshire. She may be buried in Amersham Parish Cemetery (Church of England). Her sister lived in Birmingham.
After Big Charlie's death, his son Philip became Head of that Household. Philip was succeeded by his cousins Thomas and Charles, sons of Thomas & Margaret(Boyle) Doherty.

Cornelius (Knogher) Doherty 1800-1877
He lived and worked on the family farm. He was unmarried and lived to be 77 years. He died, 9th October 1877 and on his death certificate he is described as "farmer". In his Will he left £200; £100 each to his nephew Charlie and niece Katie (Doherty)Gallagher, Newbridge.
